Melody Art latest news is the launch of our photographic range.

We have now added a range of photography by David Hawtin.

I have been taking photos for many years but had been spurred on by Melody to make 12 pictures available for our closing exhibition at our Gallery in Alresford. What fun and quite a challenge, choosing frames and pictures, but it has been so good to finally spend time thinking about my photographs. I do hope you enjoy those I have selected, I have many more to prepare at some future date.

We are continuing our search for a new location and hope to have some exciting news soon.

The Sea, an inspiration for Melody's Seascape Paintings

The Sea.
As vast as the ocean, Hope, Take Time To Watch The Waves, Summer Memories, Christmas Skies, Who Paints The Skies, Night Waves... These are titles of my days, which become a memory etched and created in wonderful paint. How the paint glides, moving with the gentlest of touch, feeling the ebb and flow of the wave, the wind in the water, the wind in the paint. As my memory swirls and I move beyond the current of life, into the horizon of eternity, I know it is through the memories I find the future. It is the lessons of my swimming against the tide, it is the beauty of moving in the flow of the almighty picture. The sea, the sky and light, the covering of my entity, the covering of my soul as I swim through life on this earth. My reason and logic are lost as I swim, as I fly... Is it a dream or is it reality.

My first memories of swimming were in the school pool, I swam with my orange armbands at the age of 6. I was swimming.... My teacher spoke, to my amazement there was no air in my bands and I was swimming. Like life, we discover we can swim only when we are swimming and maybe a friend says well done.
At the age of 9 I swam in the sea and nearly drowned, yet my love of the sea or swimming never dimmed, I trusted the water, I knew it I belonged in it. Living in Brighton when I was 21 We would run in our costumes down Preston St to the sea, diners glanced up from there meals... We ran on to the sea. As running to my destiny I would run in the dim light of the evening, into the summer sea. The time flew as I swam in the warmth of the night, the currents pushed and shoved yet my youth made its own way. Danger was hidden to me, my love was in the sea... my home where I was free....
The sea symbolizes so much to me, reality and dreams merging into a life, my life. When I paint my seas I feel they are familiar, somewhere people know. The sea is a gift to everyone, to remind our souls to soar to be free and never to worry about a little storm, or some big waves, they are simple part of the sea... Made just for you and me. Thank you.. For the Sea....
